Confession
I make wine because it lets me create something real. Something that will outlast me. Something you can touch and have an opinion about.
We live too fast, and I am still a product of a slower time. We’ve grown used to measuring our days by how much we can fit into them, and being deliberate and careful in what we do seems to be “underproductive”.
Wine never accepted that rhythm. Neither did the vineyard. Some things can’t be rushed, they just take the time they take, and I like that it forces me to be slower.
Face B began simply as the other side of a corporate winemaker’s life. I never thought much about the name. It stayed.
Only later did I realise that it could also mean the B-side of a record. That was the side people rarely knew best, but it was the one some came back to. Not because it was better, but because something worth finding was hidden there.
That’s what I’m after. Not a first impression. Something that lasts. Something that keeps a conversation company, that makes you forget the clock.
That lets me, and hopefully whoever drinks my wines, even if only for an hour, return to a time when things took time.
